Your Employees Are Losing the equvalent of 50 Working Days a Year in Absenteeism and Presenteeism due to Stress, Burnout and Poor Sleep. What's That Costing You?

The Corporate Wellbeing Problem

Stress, burnout, poor sleep and chronic fatigue are among the biggest drivers of reduced productivity, absenteeism and staff turnover in UK workplaces today. The numbers are stark:

  • Poor physical and mental health - including sleep deprivation, chronic stress and fatigue - costs UK employers an estimated £138 billion per year in lost productivity, with the average employee losing the equivalent of 50 working days annually (Vitality, 2024).
  • Stress, depression and anxiety account for 52% of all work-related ill health in the UK, resulting in 22.1 million lost working days annually (HSE, 2025).
  • Poor sleep costs UK employers an estimated £40 billion per year in lost productivity, and is projected to reach £47 billion by 2030 (RAND, 2016).
  • 79% of UK employees experience burnout, with 35% reporting extreme or high levels - making it one of the most significant drivers of absenteeism, reduced productivity and staff turnover facing UK employers today (Spill, 2024).
  • Replacing a senior or specialist member of staff typically costs 150-200% of their annual salary when recruitment, onboarding and lost productivity are factored in (NatWest Mentor, 2026).

The problem with most corporate wellness programmes, EAPs and mindfulness apps is that they don't address the underlying physiological cause of stress, anxiety and burnout - a nervous system that's stuck in a chronic state of high alert that it can't get out of on its own.

£990,000 Stress Payout!

A Wake-Up Call For UK Employers

In March 2026, a senior marketing manager at Jockey Club Racecourses was awarded £990,105 after the High Court found his employer breached its duty of care. After a restructure massively increased his workload, Matthew Foxton-Duffy developed complex PTSD and depression. Despite raising concerns, the company failed to take reasonable action or provide proper mental health support (Racing Post).

The Key Lesson for Employers

Ignoring employee stress warnings is now a major financial risk. Failing to act on known mental health concerns can lead to £1 million payouts. Proactive wellbeing support, stress risk assessments, and proper mental health policies are no longer optional - they are essential business protection.

If EAPs really worked, these figures wouldn't be so high!

Here are the main headline figures from the Mental Health UK Burnout Report 2026:

  • 91% of UK adults experienced high or extreme levels of pressure or stress in the past year.
  • 20% of workers took time off due to poor mental health caused by stress.
  • 39% of young adults (aged 18–24) took time off due to poor mental health caused by stress.
  • 35% of workers don't feel comfortable discussing high or extreme stress with their manager.
  • 27% of workers who took time off received no support when they returned to work.
  • Only 17% had a formal return-to-work plan after stress-related absence.
  • 42% of workers cited high or increased workload as a top driver of stress.
  • 59% of UK adults said poor sleep contributed to their stress.

So, perhaps the most expensive thing in your business is your employees' nervous systems?

A properly structured corporate wellness programme addresses that directly - at the physiological level, not just the surface.

A Different Approach

NESA XSIGNAL therapy is a clinically validated, non-invasive technology that works directly with the autonomic nervous system - the system that regulates stress responses, sleep quality, energy levels and recovery capacity.

Rather than managing the symptoms of stress, NESA works at the neurological root: helping the nervous system shift out of fight-or-flight mode and into genuine rest, recovery and resilience.

It requires no effort from the participant. Sessions are conducted seated or lying comfortably, with electrode gloves and anklets placed on the hands and feet. The process is completely imperceptible - most people find it deeply relaxing and many drift off to sleep. There is no downtime and participants can return to work immediately afterwards.

What The Research Shows

NESA therapy is backed by peer-reviewed research published in international medical journals including Brain Sciences, Frontiers in Physiology, Geriatrics and Frontiers in Pain Research.

For stress and performance:

  • 29% improvement in heart rate variability (HRV) in the NESA group compared to a 10% decline in the placebo group - HRV is the most reliable objective physiological marker of stress resilience and autonomic recovery capacity.
  • Significantly lower resting heart rates and night-time heart rates in NESA-treated participants compared to placebo - both recognised markers of reduced physiological stress load.
  • Used by professional sports teams including Manchester United, Benfica and FC Barcelona to support performance under pressure and recovery during high-demand periods.

For sleep:

  • Up to 30% increase in total sleep time.
  • Up to 49% improvement in sleep quality scores.
  • Up to 64% reduction in night-time awakenings.
  • Up to 58% reduction in daytime sleepiness.

For anxiety and burnout:

  • 50% reduction in anxiety symptoms on standardised scales.
  • Clinically meaningful improvements in psychological wellbeing, physical health and social relationships.
  • Used at the Lanserhof at the Arts Club in London for high-achieving clients experiencing burnout.

What Our Corporate Wellness Programme Looks Like

I bring the NESA equipment directly to your premises, removing any barrier to participation. A typical corporate programme works as follows:

Format: Weekly on-site sessions at your offices.

Session length: 60 minute sessions (to fit in with the workday), which includes 50 minutes of NESA treatment plus 10 minutes for set-up and wrap-up.

Participants per day: Up to 6 people per visit.

Programme length: A minimum of 10 sessions per participant is required for meaningful and lasting results. The programme is typically delivered over 10-20 weeks.

Measurable outcomes: Each participant receives WeCardio cardiovascular monitoring before, during and after their programme, providing objective Heart Rate Variability (HRV) data showing physiological improvement alongside self-reported wellbeing scores.

Discretion: Sessions are conducted privately and confidentially. Participants don't need to disclose wellbeing or health information to their employer.

Added Bonus: Since I am a qualified Coach, Counsellor and Therapist, programme participants can take advantage of my skills if they want to. Or they can fully relax and put everything aside for the duration of their NESA session.

Who Benefits Most

NESA therapy is particularly well suited to employees who are:

  • Experiencing high levels of work-related stress or anxiety.
  • Struggling with poor sleep or fatigue that affects performance.
  • Returning from, or at risk of, burnout.
  • In high-pressure roles requiring sustained focus and resilience - senior leadership, high-stakes decision-making.

It is also well suited as a proactive performance tool for employees who are functioning well but want to optimise their stress resilience, sleep quality and recovery capacity.

Why Choose This Corporate Wellbeing Programme

Unlike most corporate wellness programmes that focus on awareness, self-management or talking therapies, this programme works directly with the nervous system using clinically validated neuromodulation technology. It doesn't ask your employees to manage their stress better - it helps their bodies to actually recover from it.

The Investment

The Neurosoma corporate wellbeing programme is priced at £7,995 for a full 10-week programme - covering up to six participants, with one on-site visit per week.

NESA XSIGNAL is the most advanced neuromodulation technology currently available - a clinically validated, cutting-edge medical device used by leading hospitals, sports medicine teams and neurologists across Europe. The equipment itself represents a substantial capital investment, and bringing it directly to your premises means your employees benefit from technology that would otherwise require a clinic visit to access.

There are no hidden costs and no additional charges for the coaching, counselling or therapeutic support that is available to participants during their sessions. Payment is required in full in advance of the programme commencing. All prices are exclusive of VAT, which is not applicable because Lee Bladon Limited (t/a Neurosoma) is not currently VAT registered.
