When a Training Course Isn't Enough
Education and self-guided tools take many people a long way, but some struggles run deeper - held in the body and nervous system through experiences that can't simply be thought through. That's where Neurosomatic Therapy comes in.
Neurosomatic Therapy is a body-centred, trauma-informed approach that works directly with the nervous system and the emotional and psychological material held within it. Rather than managing symptoms on the surface, it addresses the root causes of dysregulation: the unprocessed emotions, early wounds and conditioned patterns that keep people stuck in chronic stress and survival states.
You Don't Have a Dysregulated Nervous System
Many people find it hard to feel their body and emotions, especially after difficult experiences. This mind-body disconnect isn't a fault or a flaw. When you were younger and didn't yet have the capacity to cope, your nervous system learned to buffer you from overwhelming feelings as a way of keeping you safe.
And here's the thing worth understanding:
You don't have a dysregulated nervous system - you have is a nervous system that's regulated to past experiences.
That single reframe changes everything. Your symptoms aren't evidence that something is broken in you. They're evidence of a system that adapted, intelligently, to the circumstances it grew up in, and is still running those same patterns now.
Why the Present Keeps Feeling Like the Past
We used to think the brain simply responds to the present moment. What we now know is far more interesting. Your brain takes in information from the present, both from inside you and around you, and cross-references it against the past. It essentially asks, "What does this remind me of, and how did I survive it last time?" Then it triggers whatever got you through before.
So if you find yourself flooded with stress hormones, something in your body or your environment is reminding your brain of the past and switching on a protective response. The same pattern applies to pain and fatigue. Your brain processes the information and asks the same question: what does this remind me of?
It's not malfunctioning - it's your nervous system doing its job, exactly as early experiences programmed it to. Once you understand how this works, you understand both why you're struggling and that the solution is to gently teach your nervous system that the present is not the past.
Where Your Nervous System State Comes From
The state of your nervous system shapes your quality of life, your wellbeing and your performance, not just at work but in your relationships, friendships, social interactions and every area of life.
Your baseline nervous-system state was largely set in early childhood, particularly through your interactions with your parents. Most of us had well-meaning parents who simply weren't especially well-regulated themselves, and like two tuning forks resonating together, our nervous systems tend to end up resembling theirs.
Close physical and emotional contact calms a young nervous system through a process called co-regulation. Most of us, though, didn't get the consistent, attuned depth of contact we really needed. Children who receive an abundance of warm physical and emotional contact don't tend to become needy and dependent, as is sometimes feared. More often they grow up regulated and secure. Many of us, however, picked up other lessons instead:
- We were encouraged to be "seen and not heard," so we learned to dim our light and suppress what we felt.
- We were taught that certain emotions, such as anger, were bad, so we suppressed those even further.
- Our parents couldn't pass on regulation skills they'd never been taught themselves.
Emotional and nervous-system regulation isn't taught in schools either, so most of us reach adulthood, and the workplace and our relationships, with no healthy way of regulating. It's no surprise, then, that so many of us turn to less healthy strategies instead: overeating, alcohol, smoking or vaping, other addictions, binge-watching, doom-scrolling, overworking, even over-exercising for the dopamine hit.
Underneath all that unprocessed emotional material, many of us carry a subtle, gnawing sense of discomfort deep within. It's often this feeling we're really trying to avoid through our coping strategies. Neurosomatic Therapy turns towards it, gently and safely, rather than away.
How Working With a Nervous System Therapist Helps
We work gently and at your pace. Rather than trying to override your thoughts or push through difficult feelings, Neurosomatic Therapy helps your nervous system learn that the danger has passed. Using a blend of nervous system regulation, somatic awareness and depth psychology, we work with the protective patterns your body developed to help you cope, updating them so they no longer need to run your life.
As your nervous system begins to settle, your thoughts, emotions and behaviours naturally begin to shift too. This isn't about forcing change or trying harder. It's about creating the conditions in which genuine recovery can happen, so your body no longer has to respond to the present as though it were the past.
Why Understanding Isn't Always Enough
Perhaps you've tried talking therapy, CBT, mindfulness, breathing exercises or coaching. They may have helped for a while. You may even understand exactly why you react the way you do. So why do the same patterns keep returning? Because insight alone doesn't always change the nervous system.
Much of what we do happens automatically, below conscious awareness. Your nervous system is constantly scanning for signs of danger. If something resembles an old threat, even subtly, it can trigger a familiar protective reaction before your thinking mind has had chance to intervene. That change in nervous system state influences how you feel, the thoughts that arise, and the behaviours that follow. Those behaviours often reinforce the original pattern, making it more likely to occur again.
The Nervous System's Protection Cycle
Present Experience >>> Pattern Matching (what does this remind me of?) >>> Protective Reaction (fight - flight - shutdown) >>> Thoughts, Feelings & Sensations >>> Coping Behaviours >>> Outcome (and the cycle repeats)
The nervous system interprets the outcome as evidence that the protective reaction was necessary, strengthening the pattern and making it more likely to happen again.
- Conscious awareness interrupts the automatic cycle.
- Nervous system regulation creates the safety needed for the pattern itself to be updated, so the present no longer feels like the past.
Different therapeutic approaches work with different parts of the nervous system's protection cycle:
- Talking therapies and CBT help you understand your thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and develop healthier responses.
- Mindfulness and breathing practices help to regulate your immediate experience and increase present-moment awareness.
- Coaching helps you to create meaningful behavioural changes and move towards your goals.
- Neurosomatic Therapy works with the nervous system patterns that trigger the cycle before thoughts and behaviours have a chance to take over.
That's why it's possible to understand a pattern completely, yet still find yourself reacting in exactly the same way. Understanding a pattern isn't the same as updating it.
By helping your nervous system recognise that the present is no longer the past, those automatic protective responses can gradually begin to change. As they do, the thoughts, emotions and behaviours that once felt so difficult to control often begin to change with them. The goal isn't simply to manage symptoms. It's to help your whole system discover a new baseline: one that feels calmer, more connected, more resilient, and no longer organised around survival.
Who is Neurosomatic Therapy For?
Neurosomatic Therapy supports people living with:
It suits anyone who senses that their difficulties live in the body as much as the mind, and who wants to address the underlying root cause rather than perpetually trying to manage their symptoms.

What to Expect
Safety comes first, always. We move at your pace, building enough safety in the body that difficult material can be approached without overwhelm, and we never push past what your system can handle.
Sessions are held online via Zoom, fitting easily around work and life.
There's no rush and no obligation. If you'd like to explore whether Neurosomatic Therapy is right for you or one of your team, book a Free Discovery Call and we'll talk it through - see below for details.
How to Begin
For organisations:
HR and wellbeing leads can fund and arrange therapy for a member of their team. The booking takes minutes, there's no invoicing or procurement to navigate, and sessions are private, confidential and completely independent of the employer.
For individuals:
Many modern organisations have wellbeing funding available, and your HR or wellbeing lead may be able to arrange confidential support, so it could be worth asking. But if you'd rather keep things entirely private, you can arrange sessions yourself, simply, directly, and at a reduced rate designed to make this work more accessible.
Pricing & Booking for Organisations
For organisations, Neurosomatic Therapy is available as a package of 10 one-to-one Zoom sessions for £1,000 (all inclusive, no VAT is payable), typically delivered weekly. At £100 per session, this is very competitive within the corporate therapy marketplace because your investment goes directly to the therapist providing the care, rather than to a platform or intermediary. Please note that many people will need more than 10 sessions, depending on the complexity, intensity and depth of their issues.
Payment is made securely by card at the point of booking, with no invoicing, purchase orders or procurement process to navigate. The corporate package is essentially a gift voucher for 10 sessions, which the employee then redeems themselves.
At the time of booking, please enter both your own email address and the employee's, so you both receive the order confirmation email. This contains your payment receipt and the employee's unique scheduling link, which they use to redeem and book their sessions privately, at times that suit them.
Notes:
- You may want to check my availability first (by clicking the Free Discovery Call button above) and discuss it with your employee to ensure suitable timeslots are available for them.
- If the employee would like the same timeslot each week, we recommend scheduling all sessions as soon as the confirmation email arrives.
- The 10 Zoom sessions must be used within 200 days of the order.
- Zoom sessions can be rescheduled freely up to 24 hours before the appointment, so there's plenty of flexibility to work around a busy week.
- If a Zoom session is missed without at least 24 hours' notice, it's counted as used. This keeps things simple and fair, and it's the same policy for everyone.
- Please read our Policies & Disclaimers and Terms & Conditions for further details.
Pricing & Booking for Individuals
For individuals funding their own therapy, Neurosomatic Therapy is available as a package of 5 one-to-one Zoom sessions for £400 (no VAT is payable), typically taken weekly. This is a reduced rate, lower than the standard professional fee, because I want this work to be genuinely accessible to the people who need it, not only those whose employer can fund it.
It's worth being realistic about what therapy involves: this is deeper work, and lasting change usually unfolds over time. A package of 5 sessions is a meaningful start, enough to build safety, begin settling the nervous system, and get a real sense of the process, but most people find they want or need several packages to work through things more fully. You're under no obligation to continue; you simply book another package whenever you're ready.
Payment is made securely by card at the point of booking. You'll then receive a confirmation email containing your scheduling link, so you can book your sessions at times that suit you.
Notes:
- You may want to check my availability first (by clicking the Free Discovery Call button above) to ensure suitable timeslots are available for you.
- If you'd like a regular weekly timeslot, we recommend scheduling all your sessions as soon as the order confirmation email arrives.
- The 5 Zoom sessions must be used within 100 days of placing the order.
- Zoom essions can be rescheduled freely up to 24 hours before the appointment.
- If a Zoom session is missed without at least 24 hours' notice, it's counted as used. This keeps things simple and fair, and it's the same policy for everyone.
- Please read our Policies & Disclaimers and Terms & Conditions for further details.
How is this different from CBT or talking therapy?
They're not competing, they're doing different jobs. Talking therapy and CBT work well with thoughts and behaviours. Neurosomatic Therapy works with the nervous system response that's often driving those thoughts and behaviours in the first place. Plenty of people find it useful alongside existing therapy, not instead of it.
I've already done lots of work on myself - will this add anything?
Absolutely. If you've noticed that you understand your patterns well but still find your body reacting the same way in the moment, that's usually a sign the nervous system layer hasn't been worked with directly yet, even if a lot of other good work has been done.
Will this fix my particular medical condition?
No. Neurosomatic Therapy isn't a medical treatment and doesn't diagnose or cure physical or mental health conditions. It works with nervous system regulation, which can support how your body responds to stress, but it's not a substitute for medical care.
What actually happens in a session?
Each session is unique because each client is unique. I’ll meet you exactly where you are in each moment, so you’ll get exactly what your system needs. Some sessions may focus on emotional regulation, some on coaching, some on healing, and some on self-discovery and awakening. But generally, most sessions involve sitting and talking, while sensing down into our bodies. We may close our eyes as we deepen into your somatic or emotional experience.
Will Neurosomatic Therapy work for me?
If you approach this work with apprehension, scepticism, huge expectation, or desperation, your system will be contracted and closed, so your chances of feeling or healing anything significant are slim. neuro-somatic therapy is most effective when: (1) you’re relaxed, undefended, open-minded and open-hearted; (2) you drop any agenda and get out of your own way; (3) your only motivation is a love of self-discovery and the truth; (4) you’re willing to feel deeply into your body and your emotions; (5) you’re dedicated and committed for the long term; (6) you take responsibility for your own healing and engage with the process; (7) you don’t just rely on our sessions for your growth, but maintain conscious awareness and presence as you live your daily life.
