A New Approach to Nervous System Development
Neurosomatic Awareness: Free Nervous System Development Programme
Understand what's driving anxiety, overwhelm and low mood, and discover a different way of working with it.
Before you begin
Everything here is 100% FREE and open to everyone. There's nothing to join, no email address needed and no payment details.
Start with Lesson 1 whenever you like, work through the programme at your own pace, and come back as often as you want. It's experiential as well as educational, so you'll get more from it by taking your time rather than rushing through.
You may already know how to regulate
Perhaps you've tried breathing exercises, meditation, therapy or countless other techniques, and some may have helped. But if the same reactions keep resurfacing even once you've calmed down, that doesn't mean you haven't found the right technique. It may mean there's something deeper to understand.
This programme goes a layer beyond regulation, into what I call recalibration: understanding what your nervous system learned, recognising the patterns as they happen, and gradually updating the settings it developed earlier in life so they better fit the life you're actually living now.
That's what this Neurosomatic Awareness programme will help you to explore.
What You'll Explore
Neurosomatic Awareness takes you on a journey from understanding how your nervous system works to experiencing, exploring and working with the deeper emotional, psychological and embodied patterns that shape who you are, how you relate to yourself and others, and how you experience life.
There are 35 video lessons, each around 8–18 minutes long, with around seven hours of teaching in total. The practices are designed to give you time to slow down, turn your attention towards your actual experience and reconnect with the mind and body. That experiential connection is an important part of the healing process, so the programme is designed to be taken slowly, allowing you to absorb the material and explore what you’re discovering for yourself.
Seven hours might sound like a lot. But if you’ve been struggling for years, what is seven hours worth? Change takes time, attention and effort. This isn’t a quick fix, but seven hours is less time than many people spend reading a book or watching a series on Netflix. You don’t have to do it all at once.
Module 1: Understanding Yourself
Your nervous system may still be responding to experiences your mind believes are long over, quietly shaping how you think, feel and react today. This module introduces why that happens, and why learning to feel again, rather than just think, is where deeper change can begin.
Module 2: Nervous System States
Meet the nervous system map that underpins the rest of the programme, and discover why regulation isn't simply about staying calm. You'll explore both sides of the map: what happens when your nervous system detects danger, and what safety actually feels like when it's present.
Module 3: Reading Your Nervous System
Learn how your nervous system reads the world around you for safety and threat, often before you're consciously aware of it, and how to read the signals coming from within your own body through sensation, emotion and interoception.
Module 4: The Three Centres
Explore the three centres of head, heart and gut, and discover why one centre can become dominant while the others fade into the background. You'll explore how awareness can bring all three back into relationship.
Module 5: Nervous System Regulation
Learn practical, felt ways to come down from high arousal and gently come back up from flat or shut-down states, because you can't think your way to either. By the end, you'll have started building your own sustainable regulation practice, one that fits real life rather than ideal conditions.
Module 6: Emotions and Feelings
Discover why emotions aren't the problem, and why learning to feel them fully is part of the healing rather than something to manage away. You'll trace today's emotional patterns back to where they began, and learn to interrupt automatic reactions and create space to respond instead.
Module 7: Connection and Co-Regulation
Your nervous system is constantly in conversation with the people around you, and theirs with you, whether you're aware of it or not. This module explores co-regulation from both sides, and why healthy relationships aren't the ones that never break, but the ones that know how to repair.
Module 8: The Conceptual Self
See how a feeling can quietly become a belief about who you are, long before you consciously chose it, and how that belief can shift from something you think to something you think from. You'll meet the protective and coping patterns that form around it, and understand what they were always trying to do for you.
Module 9: The Essential Self
Meet the Essential Self beneath the learned roles, beliefs and protective patterns you've built over a lifetime, along with the qualities that arise naturally when it has room to express itself.
Module 10: The Healing Journey
Explore the healing journey from protection towards conscious engagement, looking beneath protective patterns to the feelings, and beneath the feelings to the core wound itself. Protection may have kept you safe, but it was never meant to be where you live.
What makes this programme different?
Grounded in science. The programme is grounded in contemporary neuroscience and the research behind nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, emotion and neuroplasticity. Where scientific claims are made, supporting research is provided so you can explore the evidence for yourself.
Beyond mere regulation. This isn't a collection of quick fixes, and it's not about becoming dependent on another technique every time you feel anxious. It's not about fixing something that's fundamentally wrong with you either.
The nervous system is the beginning, not the end. It's about understanding yourself more deeply, developing awareness of what's happening inside you, building the capacity to stay present, and discovering new ways of responding.
That's the journey that makes Neurosomatic Awareness different: from understanding your nervous system, to becoming more aware of your experience, to discovering what lies beneath the patterns that have shaped you.
Please Note: Neurosomatic Awareness is an educational programme, not therapy, medical treatment or medical advice.

Is the Neurosomatic Awareness programme really free?
Yes. Completely free, with no sign-up, no email and no payment, not even your name. I built it because I wanted as many people as possible to have access to this work, not just those who can afford 1-to-1 sessions.
Who is the programme for?
It's for anyone who wants to understand themselves and their nervous system more deeply, improve their psychological wellbeing and create a more fulfilling way of living.
You might be experiencing stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm or recurring patterns you'd like to understand, or you may simply feel that there is more to wellbeing than managing symptoms and getting through the day.
Do I need any previous experience?
No. Everything is explained from the ground up. You don't need any previous knowledge of nervous system regulation, somatic therapy or neuroscience.
What will I get from the programme?
You'll develop a framework for understanding your nervous system, body, emotions, thoughts and behavioural patterns, and for becoming more aware of what's happening within you as it happens.
As the programme progresses, you'll also explore the deeper conditioning that shapes your sense of self and how greater awareness can create the possibility of lasting change.
How is the programme delivered?
The programme is entirely online and self-paced. It takes around 7 hours to complete, but the material is broken into manageable lessons, with individual videos ranging from around 8 to 18 minutes.
It includes 35 videos, 3 PDF handouts and 10 guided audio practices. The audio practices can be streamed online or downloaded to your device.
You can work through the programme in your own time, one lesson at a time, and return to the material and practices whenever you need them.
Is this therapy?
No. Neurosomatic Awareness is education rather than therapy or medical treatment. If you're experiencing significant difficulties, it should complement rather than replace appropriate professional support. If you feel you need therapy, please seek support from a qualified therapist.
