Trauma Lives in the Body

Trauma isn't only a memory. It's a pattern held in the body and nervous system, one that keeps the system braced for danger long after the danger has passed. This is why trauma so often resists being talked through, and why a body-centred approach can reach what words alone can't.

When you were younger and didn't yet have the capacity to cope, your nervous system learned to buffer you from overwhelming feelings as a way of keeping you safe. Those protective patterns did their job at the time. The difficulty is that they keep running now, in situations that no longer call for them, shaping how you feel and react in ways that can be hard to make sense of.

Why the Past Stays Present

Your brain is always cross-referencing the present against the past, asking what a situation reminds it of and how you survived it before. With unresolved trauma, ordinary cues, a tone of voice, a place, a sensation in the body, can be read as danger and switch on the old survival response, often instantly and without conscious thought.

This is what it means to have a nervous system that's regulated to past experience. It isn't malfunctioning, and you aren't overreacting. The system is doing precisely what it learned to do, treating the present as though it were the past. The work is to gently teach it that the present is not the past, and that it's finally safe to let the guard down.

Why Talking About It Isn't Always Enough

Talking about what happened can help, but for many people it only goes so far, and sometimes it makes things harder. Because trauma is held in the body and nervous system, not just in conscious memory, retelling the story can switch the survival response back on without ever resolving it. You can understand exactly what happened to you, and why, and still find your body reacting as though it's happening now.

That's not a sign you haven't tried hard enough, or talked about it enough. It's a sign that the work needs to happen a level deeper than thinking and talking, in the body, where the pattern actually lives. This is why a body-centred approach can reach what words alone can't, and why it doesn't ask you to keep going over the details to get there.

How Trauma Therapy Online Works

The therapy is trauma-informed throughout. We move gently and at your pace, building enough safety in the body that difficult material can be approached without overwhelm.

Using nervous system regulation and somatic therapy, the aim isn't to relive the past but to help your nervous system finally complete what it couldn't at the time, release what's been held, and learn that it's safe to come back to the present. We never push past what your system can handle, and you stay in control of the pace the whole way through.

Finding a Sense of Safety in the Present

Between sessions, the most helpful thing isn't to revisit what happened. It's the opposite: gently reminding the body that, right now, you're safe. When the nervous system is braced for danger, small signals of present-moment safety can help it settle, and they ask nothing of you beyond noticing.

  • A few gentle things that can help:
  • Letting your eyes slowly take in the room around you.
  • Noticing that you're here and the moment has passed.
  • Feeling your feet on the floor or your back against the chair, which brings you out of your head and into the present.
  • Warmth, and being somewhere that already feels secure.
  • Spending time near people who feel safe, because a calm nervous system helps settle another, through a process called co-regulation.

The key is gentleness. If something stirs up distress rather than easing it, that's your cue to stop and come back to what feels steady. None of this replaces proper support, but it can help you feel a little more grounded while you decide whether deeper work is right for you.

An Important Note on Crisis Support

This page is about ongoing, paced support, not crisis care. If you're in acute distress, experiencing severe flashbacks, or feel at risk, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or call the Samaritans free on 116 123, any time, day or night.

Testimonials

Working with Lee has been so valuable to my life. Energy blocks from trauma have been brought to the surface and released. It’s been so transformative. Each session has helped me to continue to support myself to grow by helping me to focus my energy with intention. This has led to peace and total wellbeing in my life. I’m looking forward to future sessions.

Elizabeth S

Thanks ever so much for the session. I’ve felt absolutely great since, a little emotional, in a good way, and felt really at ease, relaxed and focused. Instead of my mind and energy racing at 1000mph I feel really chilled. I usually find it really difficult to relax into a calm state of mind, if at all, so really really pleased with the session, happy days! Really looking forward to the next session.

Jonny S

I really enjoyed my sessions with Lee. From the very first one, the effects were subtle but noticeable and I became quickly aware of how considerably less reactive I was to situations that I would normally find triggering. I felt an inner calm and clarity. Would highly recommend.

Laura C

Before starting therapy, I felt constantly on edge and overwhelmed by even small things. I literally felt like a child a lot of time and couldn't really cope with life. Working with Lee helped me to understand where my fear and anxiety were really coming from, and over the next few months we slowly worked our way through it all. Lee's insightful coaching and healing therapy helped me to gradually rediscover my adult self and my soul's essence realise I could handle life. The "space" Lee holds, and guidance and support he provides, are amazing. He really knows his stuff! His first-hand experience of anxiety meant I felt like he really got me, unlike my previous therapist. Now I feel so much calmer, relaxed, and finally able to enjoy life without the constant fear, worry and insecurity that plagued me for years.

Over the years, I have worked with therapists, psychologists and healers. For me, Lee Bladon exceeds them all. His unique methodology, long experience and intuitive abilities allow him to pinpoint potential "solutions" to whatever issues I bring to a session. And afterwards, I invariably leave with a greater insight - mental, emotional and physical - along with a determination to apply what I've learned to my daily life. At the beginning, I obviously didn't know what to expect so I was glad for the free introductory session Lee offers. It's not easy to tell from one interaction, but I had the sense that this was something I should pursue, and I was right. After six months, I know that choosing to do this process with Lee Bladon was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

How to Begin

For organisations:

HR and wellbeing leads can fund and arrange therapy for a member of their team. The booking takes minutes, there's no invoicing or procurement to navigate, and sessions are private, confidential and completely independent of the employer.

For individuals:

Many modern organisations have wellbeing funding available, and your HR or wellbeing lead may be able to arrange confidential support, so it could be worth asking. But if you'd rather keep things entirely private, you can arrange sessions yourself, simply, directly, and at a reduced rate designed to make this work more accessible.

Pricing & Booking for Organisations

For organisations, Neuro-Somatic Therapy is available as a package of 10 one-to-one sessions for £1,000 (all inclusive, no VAT is payable), typically delivered weekly. At £100 per session, this is very competitive within the corporate therapy marketplace because your investment goes directly to the therapist providing the care, rather than to a platform or intermediary. Please note that many people will need more than 10 sessions, depending on the complexity, intensity and depth of their issues.

Payment is made securely by card at the point of booking, with no invoicing, purchase orders or procurement process to navigate. The corporate package is essentially a gift voucher for 10 sessions, which the employee then redeems themselves.

At the time of booking, please enter both your own email address and the employee's, so you both receive the order confirmation email. This contains your payment receipt and the employee's unique scheduling link, which they use to redeem and book their sessions privately, at times that suit them. When they click the link, they'll choose between Zoom (recommended) or Teams (if your organisation already uses it).

Notes:

  • You may want to check my availability first (by clicking the Free Discovery Call button above) and discuss it with your employee to ensure suitable timeslots are available for them.
  • If the employee would like the same timeslot each week, we recommend scheduling all sessions as soon as the confirmation email arrives.
  • The 10 sessions must be used within 200 days of the order.
  • Sessions can be rescheduled freely up to 24 hours before the appointment, so there's plenty of flexibility to work around a busy week.
  • If a session is missed without at least 24 hours' notice, it's counted as used. This keeps things simple and fair, and it's the same policy for everyone.
  • Please read our Policies & Disclaimers and Terms & Conditions for further details.

Pricing & Booking for Individuals

For individuals funding their own therapy, Neuro-Somatic Therapy is available as a package of 5 one-to-one sessions for £400 (no VAT is payable), typically taken weekly. This is a reduced rate, lower than the standard professional fee, because I want this work to be genuinely accessible to the people who need it, not only those whose employer can fund it.

It's worth being realistic about what therapy involves: this is deeper work, and lasting change usually unfolds over time. A package of 5 sessions is a meaningful start, enough to build safety, begin settling the nervous system, and get a real sense of the process, but most people find they want or need several packages to work through things more fully. You're under no obligation to continue; you simply book another package whenever you're ready.

Payment is made securely by card at the point of booking. You'll then receive a confirmation email containing your scheduling link, so you can book your sessions at times that suit you. When you click the link, you'll choose between Zoom (recommended) or Teams (if you already use it).

Notes:

  • You may want to check my availability first (by clicking the Free Discovery Call button above) to ensure suitable timeslots are available for you.
  • If you'd like a regular weekly timeslot, we recommend scheduling all your sessions as soon as the order confirmation email arrives.
  • The 5 sessions must be used within 100 days of placing the order.
  • Sessions can be rescheduled freely up to 24 hours before the appointment.
  • If a session is missed without at least 24 hours' notice, it's counted as used. This keeps things simple and fair, and it's the same policy for everyone.
  • Please read our Policies & Disclaimers and Terms & Conditions for further details.
Neurosoma FAQ
Is online trauma work safe?

Yes. Working from a place where you already feel secure can help you stay grounded, and the approach is paced to keep you within what you can comfortably handle.

Will I have to relive my trauma?

No. The aim isn't to relive the past but to help your nervous system feel safe in the present and release what it's been holding.

What approach do you use?

A body-centred, trauma-informed approach called the Incorr Method, which combines nervous system regulation and somatic therapy, working with the body as well as the mind.

How is this different from talking therapy?

Talking therapies work mainly with thoughts and memory. This approach also works with the body and nervous system, where trauma is actually held, which is often why talking alone hasn't fully resolved it.

How long does it take?

It varies for everyone. We'll move at a pace that feels safe and sustainable for you, with no fixed timeline. Honestly, it often takes over a year.

Can my employer refer me?

Yes. HR, wellness and wellbeing leads can refer employees directly, and all sessions are confidential.
